Delta Larkey and I (Jess Finney) are offering a workshop to address a need we continue to notice in staff rooms and training spaces as we PA.
While we have observed the efforts to create more inclusive training spaces for both staff and participants, we also know that racial harm continues to occur in these spaces. While harm cannot be fully prevented (despite our protective parts’ best intentions!), we have noticed some trends: that white bodied individuals, both participants and staff members, continue to have parts that cause harm when they are not centered.
In essence, white bodied individuals do not have much practice in not being centered. Therefore, when there is activation around race, exile energy can emerge around being left out/overlooked and then protectors can emerge that end up causing either harm towards BIPOC bodies or more labor for BIPOC bodies in the room. As the training staff has become more inclusive, this lack of practice of white bodies in the PA support staff role has created more labor (and harm) for the BIPOC trainers, participants and staff members.
Here are the goals of this workshop:
To develop stamina for racial stress among white IFS PAs.
To provide grounding and a framework to use when holding spaces where there is activation and energy around race, especially when white bodies are not centered.
To retrain our eyes to see the ways that race is intertwined with all aspects of life; including IFS training spaces
Please note that this workshop is offered by Creative Transformations, LLC & The Family Development Center and is not affiliated with the IFS-Institute’s PA Development offerings.
Fee: $150 (USD)
