This experiential workshop on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 11am-3pm CT, is an opportunity and invitation for white IFS PAs to practice and build muscle around how to stay in their body, in relationship with their parts and connected to Self when their own parts and others’ parts are activated around race.
Goals:
To develop stamina for racial stress among white IFS PAs.
To provide grounding and a framework to use when holding spaces where there is activation and energy around race.
To retrain our eyes to see the ways that race is intertwined with all aspects of life; including IFS trainings.
Presenters:
Jessica Finney (she/her) of Creative Transformations is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who enjoys working creatively and collaboratively with individuals, couples, and families and has been doing so in a variety of settings since 2014. Jess is an Assistant Trainer with IFS-I, a certified IFS therapist and IFS-I approved clinical consultant with extensive experience as a Program Assistant for IFS Institute Level 1 and Level 2 trainings.
Delta Larkey (she/her) of The Family Development Center is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is Level 3 IFS trained and has extensive experience as a Program Assistant for IFS Institute Level 1 and Level 2 trainings. Delta was part of the first cohort to complete Resmaa Menakem’s Somatic Abolitionism Training Program through the Education for Racial Equity.
**Accountability statement: White people’s voices and perspectives on racism and antiracism is necessary to the conversation. When we only engage with Black, Indigenous and Peoples of Color’s perspectives, it reinforces the idea that white people are outside of race and that racism is not a white problem. However, the foundation of our antiracist education must be rooted in Black, Indigenous, People of Color’s perspective. In an effort to be accountable to those we have learned from, Jess and Delta will be donating a portion of the proceeds to BIPOC led organizations that focus on education, advocacy and activism.
Fee: $150 (USD)
IFS CEs: This workshop has been approved by IFS-Institute for 3 IFS Continuing Education credits [these are only applicable for individuals with Level 1+ Training who are Certification Candidates or pursuing recertification].
